SPEAR: Penetrating Questions

When I meet with a student, one of my goals is to find out how they are doing. I have found the acronym SPEAR (or PEARS, if you prefer fruit to weapons) is a helpful framework. This simple memory device makes sure I’m checking in on most of the big areas of their lives.
